Other initiatives

Distributed networks

They allow the access to several collections and/or databases at the same time, delivering combined information about specimens or occurrences.

Other biodiversity data sources

They are different biodiversity sources proceeding from the Iberomacaronesic region (the Iberian Peninsula, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Azores, and Madeira).

Biological collections on Internet

Many of the natural history collections in Spain are aware of the importance of sharing their data via the internet. Because of this, regardless of their participation in global initiatives like GBIF, it is frequent to find individual initiatives for the publication of their data both in an internal level in the institution as on the internet. In this label, we present a list of the most relevant free-access collections.
